Who We Are

The Thousand Island Park Foundation is an independent entity and a registered 501c3 non-profit organization that is run by a volunteer board of directors who are all Thousand Island Park residents.

Every dollar raised will be directed to Park organizations and activities within the Park or specific pre-identified non-profit organizations within the local community such as food pantries or healthcare providers.

We are pleased to interact with and support other nonprofits in the Park. Last year we assigned board member liaisons to each non-profit within the Park to assist them with any needs they may have from the Foundation. We also work closely with the Community Coalition on organizing and planning events within the Park.

We “Do Good Things for Thousand Island Park”...

We support the other non profit organizations within Thousand Island Park in meeting their objectives with direct grants or donations.

We partner with the various organizations as well as offer our own community events within Thousand Island Park which are open to our Park residents and guests as well as the public. Events offered are united around our mission. We look to offer fun and engaging activities for children as well as educational, environmental, and cultural events for adults.

Part of our mission is to help in beautifying the Park by maintaining historic elements and restoration of selected structures through a lease to a non-profit organization within the Park or a matching fund grant.

We also have been able to accomplish capital improvement projects (the Playground and the Gazebo) and develop a leasing strategy that is now a model that other Park nonprofits have followed. Using this strategy, a lease from the Corporation is secured and upon its termination, the property would be returned to the Corporation. While under lease, tax-advantaged donations to the nonprofit may be made to help restore Park assets.
